Our thanks to Andrew Baldwin...

Andrew Baldwin came up from his studio and the university in Aberystwyth to give a workshop at the Bluecoat on his new ground, BIG. (That was back in January now..)

The amount of technical info he managed to give out in one day was staggering. He usually uses it as a ground with copper which he etches with Ferric Chloride at around 35 Baume.

Tracy Griffin (aka Hill) and Emma Gregory are including the new ground, combined with sandpaper, in their on-going research on aquatints suitable for use in a community based print studio. Their research concentrates on zinc etching with Copper Sulphate. So watch this space for news on how they get on with it and what they do about the teething problems.

Here are some photos from the workshop - just a couple!
