Hot Bed Press Demo

19th Century Photographic Printmaking talk and demonstration Thursday 8th March at Hot Bed Press.

Not to be missed! Guest artist John Brewer will show how to make Van Dyke Brown prints, cyanotype and gum bichromate prints using basic equipment. This will be followed by a wetplate demo. Wetplate collodion printing is not done in many places in the country and is a very special process where the metal plate is the final image and is glossy and atmospheric. John is one of the leading experts in this and runs exclusive courses in his studio in Manchester. See for examples of his work.

John was born and grew up in south east England and now lives in the City of Manchester. He first became interested in photography at the age of eleven in the 1970's and is both self taught and formally educated. John has had work published in several magazines & books, has worked with an award winning theatre company and his work is in private collections worldwide. He has also exhibited in the UK and abroad.

This is part of the ongoing monthly talks we have been running that have been excellent and draw a big crowd which is great to see.

The talk starts at 7pm and runs to around 8.30pm and costs just £5 for members, and £10 for non-members
